State-of-the-art pet clinic now open in Centre

By SCOTT WRIGHT

CENTRE — Attention pet owners: Taking care of Felix or Fido just got easier.

The Cherokee County Pet Clinic is now open in the former location of Dr. Smeltzer's office, across from McDonald's in Centre. Business owners Dr. Chris Eiland and Jeremy Deaton claim one of the most advanced pet care facilities in the area.

“I would put this clinic up against any clinic in Rome, Gadsden, even Birmingham, as far as the technology we have,” Deaton told The Post last week during a grand opening. “You can't drive anywhere around here and get better facilities than we have, but the one thing that sets us apart from other clinics in the area is our level of compassion towards not only the animals, but their owners as well. From the receptionists to the technicians and doctors, we care about your family and invite you to become part of ours.”

Deaton, who will graduate with his degree in veterinary medicine in May, said the clinic will focus on small animals for the time being.

“No goats, no horses right now,” Deaton said. “We plan to offer large animal farm calls and emergency services beginning in May.”

Deaton said the facility has a digital X-ray machine, as well as laser surgery capability, gas anesthesia, IV pumps and in-house blood machines. And despite Deaton's young age, the Cherokee County Pet Clinic also has a lot of experience.

“Dr. Chris has been a veterinarian for 10 years and is the owner of Southside Pet Clinic,” Deaton said.

The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. For information, call 256-927-8387, visit www.cherokeecountypetclinic.com or friend the clinic on Facebook.
