CEDAR BLUFF — Assistant Principal Marcia Sewell has been hired to take over the post of principal at Centre Middle School, effective Dec. 1. Sewell will take over the position previously held by Renee Williams, who announced her retirement earlier this fall.

The decision to hire Sewell was made at the Nov. 29 meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education, held at Cedar Bluff High School.

Superintendent of Schools Brian Johnson said that after looking carefully at all the applicants, he and the board members felt Sewell was the best choice.

During the meeting the school board also approved posting the newly-vacated position of assistant principal at the middle school.
