Amos, Sprouse, St. Clair will all seek reelection

STAFF REPORTS

CENTRE — Three Cherokee County office holders, all Democrats, last week announced they will seek to retain their offices for four more years in 2012.

Circuit Clerk Dwayne Amos, along with county commissioners Wade Sprouse and Elbert St. Clair, individually dropped off short statements announcing their intention to run for reelection.

“I was deeply honored with the support I had for my first term,” read the state from Amos. “I enjoy serving the citizens of Cherokee County and pledge to continue serving with integrity and efficiency through these tough economic times, which have put a strain on state budgets.”

Sprouse, elected as the District 1 commissioner in 2008, will be seeking his second term.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the people of Cherokee County during the past three years,” Sprouse said. “I want to continue to improve the economic opportunities for everyone in the county and provide necessary services to improve the quality of life for our citizens.”

St. Clair, a resident of Leesburg, will be running for his third term on the Commission.

“As an incumbent I feel that by working with the other county commissioners, elected officials and citizens of Cherokee County, we have made steady improvements,” he said. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing me the privilege to serve as District 3 commissioner. I hope to continue working with and for the citizens of Cherokee County for the next four years.”
