Johnson to seek third term as BOE head

STAFF REPORTS

CENTRE — Cherokee County Schools Superintendent Brian Johnson last week announced he will seek a third term to the office he has held since 2005.

"I would be truly honored to be reelected by the people of Cherokee County," Johnson said. "It would be a privilege to continue to serve the educators, support personnel and students."

Johnson, a Cedar Bluff High School and Jacksonville State graduate, was an educator and principal before being elected superintendent.

"I hope to continue to seek ways to improve our system and give our students the best educational resources available," he said.

Johnson said there are many unfinished projects he plans to focus on completing over the next four years.

"We have several building projects that have been put on hold due to the downturn in the economy," he said. "I would like the opportunity to see these projects through to completion."

Johnson is married to the former Tracy Trammell. They have two children, Rylie and Ross, who attend school at Cedar Bluff.
