Man found dead of self-inflicted gunshot wound

LEESBURG — According to Assistant Police Chief Lanny Ransum, officers responding to a report of a shooting yesterday at 158 Agan Circle in Leesburg found a white male with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The victim, who police have not identified, was pronounced dead by Cherokee County Coroner Don Rogers before he could be airlifted to a hospital.

Officers from Leesburg, Cherokee EMS and the Cherokee County Sheriff's Dept. responded to the call. The investigation into the shooting will be conducted by Leesburg and Cherokee County investigators, as well as the coroner's office.
