CENTRE — Jeff Noblin, Chief Executive Officer of Cherokee Medical Center, has resigned his position and will step down, effective next month. Noblin has accepted the CEO position for a 107-bed hospital in Lawrenceburg, Tenn.

“Earlier this week, I notified both our Community Health Systems’ Division leadership and our local Board of Trustees that on July 9, I will vacate an office that has provided much joy, tremendous fulfillment, and a wealth of warm memories and enriching friendships,” said Noblin. “This was a very difficult decision and it took some time to make. Nonetheless, I believe this decision is most appropriate considering my career goals and the opportunity that has arisen over the past few months.

“To the entire Cherokee Medical Center family – employees, physicians, and trustees – my wife Dean and I extend our heartfelt thanks for the countless ways you’ve helped us serve this beloved hospital. Over the years, I’ve often said that Cherokee Medical Center’s greatest asset is its people, and we’ll be forever grateful for your remarkable dedication, wise counsel, and wholehearted stewardship. There is never a perfect time to move from a place you love, but this is the right time for Dean and me, and for our family. I can leave with confidence knowing the hospital’s future is very bright.”

Noblin joined Cherokee Medical Center as assistant CEO in 2006 and was promoted to CEO in January 2007. During his tenure, the hospital has grown service lines, recruited new physicians, made improvements in patient, employee, and physician satisfaction, and added new services, including the Cherokee Sleep Disorder Center.

“Cherokee has a firm foundation for providing excellent patient care that will continue,” said John Curry, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cherokee Medical Center. “We wish Jeff much success in his new position and thank him for his many contributions to our community.”

The search for a new CEO is underway. Members of the Board of Trustees and medical staff will be involved in the process to select a new CEO.
