Manhunt underway for wanted suspect

PRESS RELEASE

On Tuesday July 5, 2011 at approximately 5 p.m. agents with the Cherokee County Narcotics Unit, assisted by Cherokee County deputies, were in the area of County Road 75, in Cedar Bluff conducting covert narcotics operations.

Officers observed a white Ford Taurus, occupied by a white male driver and a white female passenger, which was suspected as being involved in an illegal narcotics transaction. Officers followed the suspect vehicle a short distance from the scene and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle to further investigate.

The driver attempted to flee from officers in the vehicle, and was pursued to a gravel pit on County Road 41 just off of County Road 75. The male driver pulled into the gravel pit and stopped, whereby both occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area.

During a subsequent search of the wooded area, several units from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, along with officers from police departments in Cedar Bluff and Leesburg were called in to secure a perimeter around the area.

Officers soon located the female subject who was identified as Regina Sheryl Brock of Silver Creek, Ga.

Brock is being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center; charges are pending. The investigation into the identity and whereabouts of the male subject continues.
