One of the goals of launching a website for the sheriff’s office was to enlist the support of the public in making Cherokee County a safer place to live, work, and raise a family, Sheriff Jeff Shaver said in a statement released Nov. 18.

Shaver said the personnel at Brooks-Jeffrey Marketing, Inc. did an excellent job in developing the website, creating user friendly tools to allow the public to access information and receive email notifications. The most frequently visited pages are the “Most Wanted” and “Inmate Roster” pages.

"Five new pages will be added in the near future," Shaver said.

Shaver added that the response to the website has greatly exceeded projections, which is reflected in the number of site visits. Since the website went live 10 months ago, it has received more than 245,766 visits.

The success is also shown in the number of “Most Wanted” persons arrested by tips from the public. So far, Shaver said, 59 arrests have been made since the website went online.

"This would not have been possible without assistance from citizens and viewers of the website," Shaver said.
