CENTRE — In response to last week's front page story in The Post detailing the ongoing disagreement over operating funds between the Cherokee County Commission and School Superintendent Brian Johnson, one commissioner felt compelled to stop by our office and make his opinion known.

We gladly agreed to his request to print his statement in its entirety.

Commissioner Wade Sprouse said he felt compelled to respond to the controversy, so he stopped by our office Wednesday afternoon.

"About the worst thing that could happen to Cherokee County, the superintendent, and the Board of Education is to get into a Hatfield-versus-McCoy feud with the County Commission," Sprouse told The Post. "Get rid of the lawyer and the politics and sit down in an open meeting with all members present — the superintendent, the Board of Education, and the commissioners — so we can agree on a solution."
