Hospital CEO Trammell headed to Redmond in Rome, Ga.

STAFF REPORTS

CENTRE — Cherokee Medical Center CEO Patrick Trammell has taken a similar position with Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Ga., it was announced last week. Trammell's last day at CMC will be March 29.

Trammell, 35, a Florida native, has been in charge at Cherokee Medical Center since the summer of 2010. Previously, he was assistant CEO at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham.

During Trammell's tenure, Cherokee Medical Center has enhanced its emergency room services, expanded surgical capabilities, constructed a rehabilitation wing and significantly improved patient satisfaction.

Trammell, who is married with three children, said he and his family will remain in Cherokee County until the end of the school year.

“This is a bittersweet move for us, but a great career opportunity for me,” Trammell told The Post. “It's hard to leave when you are surrounded by good people who love the community and the hospital as much as we do.”

Trammell, an avid outdoorsman, said he has enjoyed his time in northeast Alabama and plans to visit often after completing the move to Georgia.

“We've definitely been bitten by the bug that is this community,” Trammell said. “It's such a beautiful area to live and raise kids in.”

Community Health Systems, the Franklin, Tenn.-based based company that owns Cherokee Medical Center, is already seeking Trammell's replacement.

Cherokee Medical Center will host a farewell reception for Trammell and his family Tuesday, March 19 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria. The public is invited.
