Welcome to The Post Online Webcam FAQ page.

1) Is The Post Online Web Cam really live?
We always strive to give you the straight dope here at The Post, and our claim of a "live" webcam is no exception. What you see when you open that webcam window is exactly what's happing on Main Street in Centre at that very moment.

2) Where, exactly, is the camera located?
Our camera is located on the corner of South River Street and Main Street (Highway 411) in Centre, directly across the street from the Cherokee County Courthouse. It is hanging over the edge of the second floor of the building that houses The Post and Model Tees Screen Printing.

3) When did the webcam first go online?
We fired up our new Post server, with the attached webcam, in early January 2007.

4) Why does The Post Online feature a webcam?
As part of our never-ending effort to bring unique, top-quality coverage of Cherokee County to our readers and the world, we decided plenty of current and former residents of the area would get a kick out of the notion of being able to connect to their former home through the magic of cyberspace. We also figured local folks would appreciate the novelty of being able to check out views of the downtown Centre area from their home computers. If the number of hits we get to the webcam page every week are any indication, we were right.

5) Does the webcam always show the same view of downtown?
Absolutely not. We purchased a camera we could point just about anywhere. Tune in on different days of the week and you'll see alternating views of several downtown businesses along both sides of Main Street. Sometimes we alter the camera view several times over the course of a single day.
