New women's club seeking members

STAFF REPORTS

CENTRE — The Cherokee County Connection, a non-profit social and information club for women in Cherokee County, is seeking new members.

The group, organized recently by Sarah Trammell, Yvonne Salmoni and Ann Carr, describes its purpose as a "bridge for newcomers to local businesses, churches, schools, area tourist sites and service and social groups" around the county.

Membership is open to all women who live in Cherokee County.

Meetings are held the second Monday of every month at the Chamber of Commerce office on the campus of Gadsden State-Cherokee in Centre. The group eats lunch, conducts a short business meeting, and concludes with an entertaining or informative program.

The group has a working partnership with the Chamber and Executive Director Thereasa Hulgan, and lists among its interests genealogy, boating, hiking, ceramics, scrapbook making, quilting, needlework, house decorations, a book club, horseback riding, swimming, gardening, golfing, photography, karaoke, board games, bridge, fishing, self-defense and tennis.

For more information or to join the Cherokee County Connection, call Trammell at 256-422-3128, Salmoni at 256-927-8063, or Carr at 256-779-8226.
