Second Clear Plan 2030 meeting is July 18 in Centre

STAFF REPORTS

CENTRE — A second round of conversations with local residents to determine their long-term outlook for East Alabama will be held later this week at the Chamber of Commerce office in Centre.

The East Alabama Partnership for Livable Communities, in conjunction with the Chamber and the city of Centre will host the conversation to give locals a chance to talk about livability in Cherokee County and how it affects their quality of life.

The conversation builds on the activities of the first so-called County Conversation, held in June, and will be a two-way discussion where citizens can voice their opinion about what makes Cherokee County livable.

Goals will be identified and ranked by participants, which will drive the final Clear Plan 2030 report.

Conversations will take place throughout the East Alabama Region, which includes Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Etowah, Randolph, Talladega and Tallapoosa counties. These events are open to all residents.

The project title is Clear Plan 2030, a long-range planning process for community livability in East Alabama. This is a local, grassroots planning effort for the regions’ 470,000 residents throughout the East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commissions planning jurisdiction.

The Cherokee County meeting will be Thursday, July 18 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the County Chamber of Commerce inside Gadsden State Cherokee.

“We had great participation with the community surveys and attendance at the first meeting,” said Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Thereasa Hulgan. “We encourage everyone to get involved in our community and let their voice be heard.”
